According to Japan Ski Guide, Fujimi Panorama has 8 courses with a longest run of 3,000 meters and an average slope gradient of 29 degrees. The gondola reaches the summit at approximately 1,780 meters, providing the vertical for that long cruising run.

The 3-kilometer course from the top gondola station to the base is the resort's signature — a wide, groomed run that intermediate skiers can cruise while taking in views of Mt Fuji to the south. On clear mornings, the panorama stretches across three mountain ranges, a sight that the resort's name directly references.

The terrain tilts toward beginners and intermediates. The resort offers a kids' snow park for families and snowshoe rental for visitors who prefer walking to skiing — a snow trek to the Mt. Nyukasa summit is a popular non-skiing option. Compared to nearby Kirigamine Highland and Tateshina Highland, Fujimi Panorama has steeper terrain and more vertical, though none approach the scale of Hakuba's resorts in northern Nagano.

When the snow melts, Fujimi Panorama transforms into one of Japan's most established downhill mountain bike parks. The gondola carries riders and bikes to the top, where multiple courses descend through forest terrain — ranging from beginner-friendly flow trails to expert-level technical descents.

According to the official MTB site, the park includes a dedicated Skill Improvement Area served by the No. 1 Lift, designed for riders building their downhill confidence before tackling the main courses. This progression structure makes the park accessible to first-time downhill riders, not just experienced mountain bikers.

The MTB park season runs from late April through late November (2025 dates: April 25 - November 24). Operating hours are 9:00-16:00 from April through mid-October, shifting to 9:00-15:30 from mid-October through season end.

Mt Nyukasa: Hiking, Snowshoeing, and Gondola Sightseeing

Mt. Nyukasa (入笠山) rises to 1,780 meters and is accessible year-round via the resort's gondola. In summer, the mountain offers alpine hiking trails and wildflower meadows. In winter, snowshoeing to the summit provides a non-skiing mountain experience — equipment rental is available at the resort.

The gondola ride itself is a sightseeing activity. On clear days, the views from the upper station span Mt Fuji, the Southern Alps, and the Yatsugatake chain. The resort's location in southern Nagano gives it an unusually high clear weather rate compared to the heavier snowfall areas further north, making panoramic views more reliably available.

For visitors not interested in skiing or mountain biking, the gondola ride plus a Mt. Nyukasa hike makes a standalone half-day outing from Fujimi Station.

Getting to Fujimi Panorama from Tokyo and Nagoya

By Train from Shinjuku

The JR Chuo Line Limited Express Azusa runs from Shinjuku Station to Fujimi Station in approximately 2 hours. From Fujimi Station, a free shuttle bus takes 10 minutes to the resort. Total door-to-door time from central Tokyo is roughly 2.5 hours, making it practical for day trips.

The shuttle bus schedule is limited — check departure times before planning your trip. From late April to mid-November (April 22 - November 12), a free shuttle departs Fujimi Station at 10:00 AM with a return at 3:00 PM. Winter shuttle schedules should be confirmed on the official site.

By Car from Tokyo and Nagoya

Driving from Tokyo via the Chuo Expressway takes approximately 2 hours (Takaido IC to Suwa-Minami IC, then 7 minutes on local roads). From Nagoya, the drive is approximately 2.5 hours via the Chuo Expressway. The resort has parking for 1,300 cars.

A car provides more flexibility than the train, particularly for combining the resort visit with nearby onsen or soba restaurants — southern Nagano's Suwa area is known for both.
